Russia shells Luhansk region, damaging 50 houses, police station and killing 5
On May 26, Russian forces broke through to Severodonetsk, damaging about 50 houses and a police station, and killing 5 civilians.
Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Sergiy Gaidai shared the Russian attack consequences in his Telegram channel.
During the day, the Russian forces tried to break through to Severodonetsk from Purdivka and Shchedryshchevo, and attacked Ukrainian positions in the Ustynivka area.
"Severodonetsk residents have already forgotten when the city was silent for at least half an hour. Russians are continuously shelling residential neighborhoods. On May 26, four Severodonetsk residents were killed by Russian shells. All in the old city districts. Two of them died at the same time, near one high-rise building," Sergiy Gaidai stressed.
Russians damaged 11 multi-story buildings and a private house in Severodonetsk. As a result of Lysychansk shelling on May 25, 19 objects were damaged. Also, Russians opened fire on the police station in the city on May 26. No one was injured.
"Another man was killed by a Russian shell yesterday in Komyshuvakha. Also, two women in Girske died during the last week," Gaidai said.
On May 26, Russian forces destroyed 11 houses in Zolote, 9 in Girske, 8 in Toshkivka, 4 in Nykrove and 3 in Mykolayivka.
"Ukrainian troops repulsed twelve Russian attacks over the past 24h, eliminated a Russian tank, five artillery systems, five armored vehicles and five vehicles. Ukrainian air defense units shot down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter, a cruise missile and an Orlan-10 UAV," added Sergiy Gaidai.
