According to him, Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories who "harm" Russia should be "exposed and punished, sent to Siberia... for re-education in forced labor camps."
The analysts point out that the exemplary trials and repressions of the Stalinist era, starting in the 1920s and 1930s, were also aimed at saboteurs (those who harm), particularly in the agricultural sector.
"Medvedev’s usage of Stalin-era purge rhetoric is significant," the analysts wrote.
This is not an isolated incident. Recently, Yevhen Balytskyi, the self-proclaimed governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, acknowledged the coerced deportation of Ukrainian citizens and insinuated that Russian occupying forces were carrying out executions of Ukrainians.
