Russia prepares new propaganda plan to disguise Telegram channels as Ukrainian
Russian social media outlets unveil a plan to promote propaganda narratives through a network of Telegram channels disguised as Ukrainian ones
This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.
Russia plans to create Telegram channels, in particular in Ukrainian, for Ukrainian regions or military brigades with feedback. This is how Russia is trying to collect information from Ukrainians themselves.
At the first stage, these channels gain an audience with entertainment and information content. Then, they covertly promote hostile narratives, for example: The West will no longer help Ukraine, there is a split between the political and military leadership in Ukraine, the corrupt elite of Ukraine is stealing everything, mobilisation should be avoided, being a deserter is smart, and Ukraine is doomed to defeat in the war.
"These channels also spread diplomatic fakes to discredit the political and military leadership of Ukraine. Trust only verified sources of information!" emphasises the Centre.
- Earlier, Russian propaganda started spreading fake news that soldiers of the 54th Separate Mechanised Brigade and the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade had allegedly contracted rabies.
