Drone attack on two oil depots in Rostov region of Russia is SBU's special operation - media
On the night of Tuesday, June 18, SBU drones attacked two Russian oil depots in the Rostov region - Azov and Azovnefteprodukt - causing 22 fuel tanks to catch fire
This was confirmed by the Ukrainian media outlets RBC-Ukraine, hromadske, and Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in the SBU.
A source in the special service said that the Russian Azov and Azovnefteprodukt oil depots, which include 22 fuel tanks in total, were hit by drones as part of a special SBU operation.
"It was especially loud near the railway station and near the port, where oil depots and fuel terminals are located. After the successful operation of the SBU drones, powerful fires broke out at the facilities," RBC-Ukraine noted.
Earlier, governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, reported the attack.
According to him, the fire allegedly broke out as a result of a drone attack. There were no casualties.
"The Emergencies Ministry's unit has organized the extinguishing of the open fire. The head of the regional department for civil society and emergencies has arrived at the scene," he added.
Russian media, citing the Emergencies Ministry, report that the fire is 5,000 cubic meters in size. A fire train is on its way to the scene.
