Russia no longer dominates Black Sea
Ukraine has confirmed that innovation is needed in modern warfare, and that old merits work well only in museums
The story of the maritime drones developed by the SBU sounds fantastic, if not for one thing: the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which was thought to dominate the Black Sea, is now pinned down to its home ports.
“Russian vessels cannot compete with modern high-speed offshore platforms, and a series of successful attacks on them continued the tradition of Russian ships being defeated in the Black Sea.”
Along with the liberation of Zmiinyi Island, SBU maritime drones have become a key to the operation of Ukraine's sea corridor, which is used to export grain and other goods. The Russians lost their advantage in the Black Sea, which had seemed unshakable. Ukraine has confirmed that modern warfare requires innovation, and that old merits work well only in museums.
Combat cooperation between the SBU and the Ukrainian Armed Forces allowed to limit the freedom of action of Russian ships in the Black Sea, which resulted in the destruction of a large landing ship Novocherkassk in Feodosia.
