The expert shared the details with Espreso TV.
"Russia does not want only Transnistria, because the aggressor country needs all of Moldova. The Russian Federation needs to destabilize the entire eastern flank of NATO. The worst option for the Russian Federation is to maintain the status quo, the best option is to spread Transnistria throughout Moldova, destabilize the situation in the country and appoint its own leadership. In any case, the pro-Russian leadership in Moldova is dangerous for everyone," Șalaru said.
The expert added that the North Atlantic Alliance will not fight with Russia in Moldova, just as it does not fight in Ukraine.
"NATO will express concern, because the Alliance does not fight in Ukraine and will not fight in Moldova. The only party that can fight in the event of a Russian attack on Moldova is Ukraine, because this directly threatens your country. Currently, there are no prerequisites for a Russian attack on Moldova, because Ukraine holds on and defends the whole of Europe," Anatol Șalaru noted.
