"This actually refers to the signals that Russia is currently sending to the United States and Europeans in the context of nuclear intimidation. We see a whole range of measures that Russia has taken. In particular, the launch of the Bulava ballistic missile with a statement that the missile reached the range and hit the designated targets, and then it was announced that the Borei class missile carrier would be adopted, which would be the seventh submarine of this class in the Russian Federation," the military expert noted.
Zgurets also added that Russia has refused to comply with the nuclear test ban treaty and continues to use nuclear rhetoric. Even when Putin traveled to China, he was followed by not one, but two black boxes, which was also associated with demonstrating the importance of Russia's nuclear component.
"But at the same time, we understand that these are rather measures for informational influence aimed at making people take into account Russia's nuclear potential again. We also understand that further provision of certain means for the Ukrainian army should be suspended in view of the possible escalation and nuclear use by the Russian Federation.
This is something that the US administration has to take into account, and it is doing so, which is reflected in the pace of aid to Ukraine. However, the nuclear rhetoric against Russia persists. The question remains whether our partners are confident that this component should not affect the volume and pace of military assistance to Ukraine," Zgurets summarized.
On November 2 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law revoking the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
On November 4, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that on November 1, Russia conducted an unsuccessful test of the RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missile. The test launch of the Bulava missile on October 25 also failed.
