Russia loses ship, 4 tanks and 460 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 4, 2023, amounted to:

• personnel - about  265,120 (+460 per day) 
• tanks - 4,480 (+4)
• armored fighting vehicles - 8,663 (+14)
• artillery systems - 5,611 (+29)
• MLRS - 741 (+2)
• air defense systems - 503 (+1) 
• aircraft - 315
• helicopters - 316
• vehicles and tank trucks - 8,149 (+47)
• ships/boats - 19 (+1)
• UAV operational-tactical level - 4,481 (+37)
• special equipment - 847 (+6)
• cruise missiles - 1,447

Frontline update

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 30 combat clashes took place over the past day.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces carried out an air strike on a settlement in the Kharkiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 15 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops shelled 5 settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched air strikes and shelled a number of settlements with artillery.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near 6 settlements and shelled over 15 more settlements with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Avdiivka and shelled settlements of the Donetsk region with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces held back the Russian offensive near the town of Marinka. Russian troops shelled a number of settlements with artillery in retaliation.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements with artillery.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Pryiutne, Zaporizhzhia region. They also carried out air strikes near 3 settlements across the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 15 settlements came under Russian artillery fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian troops carried out air strikes near 3 settlements. A string of settlements across the Kherson region came under Russian artillery fire.

The Ukrainian army conducts offensives in the Melitopol direction, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroy Russian air defense system and 10 artillery vehicles

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 9 strikes on the concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, and another 5 on anti-aircraft missile systems.

Over the past day, Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 10 Russian artillery pieces at firing positions and an anti-aircraft missile system.

Russian troops launch a Shahed attack at Ukraine 

Over the past day, Russian troops launched 78 missile strikes, 78 air strikes, and 47 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas of Ukraine. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed. 

At night, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with Shahed drones. Information on the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.

The threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

• On the night of Monday, September 4, Russian terrorists have been attacking the southern Odesa region with attack drones for three and a half hours.
