Russia loses 640 soldiers, 23 tanks and 31 artillery systems in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 8, 2023, amounted to:

• personnel - about 267,540 (+640 per day)

• armored fighting vehicles - 8,726 (+23)
• artillery systems - 5,753 (+31)
• MLRS - 754 (+1)
• air defense systems - 507 (+1)
• aircraft - 315
• helicopters - 316

• UAV operational-tactical level - 4,570 (+29)

General Staff report: Ukrainian Defense Forces dislodge Russian troops out of positions south of Bakhmut

The Ukrainian General Staff reported the information.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces carried out air strikes on 6 settlements. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Synkivka. Russian troops shelled over 15 settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In Lyman direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Novoyehorivka, Luhansk region. Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 settlements and shelled over 15 settlements with artillery.

In Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka, Donetsk region. Russian troops launched an air strike near a settlement and shelled over 15 more settlements with artillery.

Also, as a result of the assault operations, the Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved partial success south of Bakhmut, dislodged Russian troops from their positions and consolidated their own positions.

In Avdiivka direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Avdiivka and Keramik towns, an air strike, and shelled over 10 settlements of the Donetsk region with artillery. 

In Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the Russian offensive near the towns of Marinka and Novomykhailivka. Over the past day, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 10 attacks here. Russian troops launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka and shelled about 15 settlements with artillery.

In Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks south of Prechystivka. Russian troops launched an air strike near Urozhaine and shelled about 10 settlements with artillery.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near 5 settlements across the Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery fire.

In Kherson direction, Russian troops carried out an air strike near a settlement and shelled 4 settlements across the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson.

The Ukrainian army conducts offensives in the Melitopol direction, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations. Ukrainian troops have success south of Robotyne and are liberating the occupied territories step by step.

Russian army launches 7 missile and 74 air strikes at Ukraine 

Over the past day, 39 combat clashes took place.

Russia launched 7 missile attacks, 74 air strikes, and 46 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

Ukrainian defense forces destroy Russian ammunition depot and 2 control points

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 10 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 1 Russian ammunition depot, 6 artillery pieces, 2 control points, and 2 anti-aircraft missile systems.

• On the morning of Friday, September 8, Russian troops attacked Sumy. A house was destroyed as a result of a missile strike.
