Russia loses 590 soldiers, 5 tanks, one anti-aircraft missile system in a day – Ukraine's General Staff

On August 5, Russia lost 590 soldiers, 5 tanks, and a rocket launcher system. Ukrainian forces destroyed 12 Russian Kalibr missiles and 4 Shahed attack drones

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 06.08.23 were approximately:

Ukrainian forces destroyed 12 Kalibr missiles and 4 Shahed drones. More than 30 combat clashes occurred at the front

Last night, the Russian Federation launched another air and missile attack on Ukraine. The consequences of this terrorist attack are still being assessed, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the past day, the Russians carried out 20 missile strikes on Ukraine. However, our anti-aircraft units and Air Force aviation successfully destroyed 12 Kalibr missiles and 4 Shahed strike drones. All enemy air targets were eliminated.

The occupiers also launched 68 MLRS attacks at our troops' positions and populated areas, resulting in civilian casualties, injuries, and damage to residential buildings.

Throughout the day, there were more than 30 combat clashes between Ukrainian and Russian military personnel at the front lines.

Situation in different regions of Ukraine 

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian troops launched air strikes on three settlements in the Kharkiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 30 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements across the Kharkiv region. Two areas suffered from air strikes and Russian offensive actions. Ukrainian forces firmly hold the defense while Russians try to advance. 

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops tried to advance near Bilohorivka and shelled 6 settlements across the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Six areas were subjected to air strikes.  

In the Bakhmut direction, Russians shelled over 15 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled Russian attacks in the area of Kurdyumivka. Six areas were subjected to air strikes. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements with artillery, and one area suffered from air strikes. Ukrainian forces repelled all the attacks near Avdiivka. 

In the Marinka direction, Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery. Ukrainian forces hold the defense near Marinka. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops shelled 6 settlements and launched air strikes near 3 settlements. They tried to reclaim lost positions near Staromayorske, unsuccessfully. 

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops  tried to advance near Robotyne, but unsuccessfully. They shelled over 35 settlements across Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. 

Meanwhile, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive operation in Melitopol and Berdyansk directions. They are holding their positions and countering enemy attacks.

Ukrainian forces launched 7 strikes on Russian personnel positions 

The defense forces' aviation conducted 7 strikes on areas where enemy personnel were concentrated.

Moreover, missile troops and artillery units targeted and hit 2 enemy command posts, 5 areas with concentrated personnel and military equipment, 4 artillery positions, 5 ammunition storage sites, and one radio-electronic warfare station used by the occupiers.
