Russia loses 510 soldiers, 5 tanks, 10 artillery systems in a day of war – Ukraine’s General Staff

Over 30 combat clashes took place on the frontline on August 11, missile and artillery units destroyed 1 Russian Strela air defense system

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from 02/24/22 to 08/12/23 are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about/about 253,290 (+510) people were liquidated,
  • tanks - 4,295 (+5) 

  • armored combat vehicles - 8,324 (+6) 

  • artillery systems - 5,053 (+10)

  • MLRS - 713 (+0)

  • air defense systems - 472 (+1) 

  • aircraft - 315 (+0) 

  • helicopters - 313 (+0) 

  • UAVs of operational and tactical level - 4,201 (+4),

  • cruise missiles - 1,378 (+1),

  • ships/boats - 18 (+0) 

  • motor vehicles and tankers - 7,523 (+12)

  • special equipment - 759 (+3).

General Staff reports about over 30 combat clashes and destroyed Russian air defense system

In particular, Ukrainian aviation carried out a strike on the area where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated. The Ukrainian military also destroyed 4 reconnaissance UAVs of the operational and tactical level.

It has been reported that over the past day, the occupying Russian forces launched 5 missile and 31 air strikes, fired 49 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, including children. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed.

 

The situation in different regions of Ukraine

The northern Ukrainian border with Belarus: no significant changes in the operational situation.

The northeastern border with Russia: the enemy troops fired mortar and artillery shells at more than 20 localities in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

Kupyansk direction: more than 15 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

Lyman direction: the Russian forces conducted air strikes in the areas of Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and 3 more settlements in Donetsk region. Over 25 localities in the Donetsk region came under enemy artillery fire.

Bakhmut direction: more than 20 localities in Donetsk region were affected by hostile artillery shelling.

Avdiivka direction: being under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the area of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities of the region were shelled with artillery.

Marinka direction: the Russian troops carried out air strikes in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region. More than 10 localities of the region were subjected to artillery shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army launched an airstrike near Staromayorske in Donetsk region. 6 localities in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

Zaporizhzhia direction: the Russian military conducted air strikes in the areas of Novodanylivka and Orikhove in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 localities were subjected to artillery shelling.

Kherson direction: over 25 localities in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions suffered from Russian artillery attacks, as well as the city of Kherson itself.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidate their positions, and carry out counter-battery activities.

 

Russian troops use school for military purposes in Luhansk region

Russia continues to use civilian educational institutions of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine for its own military purposes. In particular, it has been found that in the village of Sieverne, Luhansk region, a school building is being used for military purposes. Currently, access to the school for local residents is prohibited.

At the same time, in the city of Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, the occupying Russian forces set up a hospital for their troops on the territory of a kindergarten located in the northern part of the city. 

 
  • The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) pointed out the tactically significant gains of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Zaporizhzhia, the degradation of the Russian army and the crucial importance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ breakthrough.
