Russia loses 480 soldiers, 6 tanks and 38 missiles in one day of war in Ukraine - General Staff

Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the line, carry out offensives at the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions, and destroy the Russian troops. Over the past day, the Armed Forces eliminated 480 invaders

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on September 22.

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from 02.24.22 to 09.22.23 are estimated at:

  • personnel - about 274,950 (+480) people
  • tanks - 4,644 (+6)
  • armored combat vehicles - 8,891 (+8)
  • artillery systems - 6,177 (+40)
  • MLRS - 785 (+4)
  • air defense systems - 528 (+0)

General Staff's report: Defense forces continue to advance on two fronts, 26 clashes occurred at the frontline

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reports.

In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group, in the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation remains without significant changes.

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces keep a military presence in the border areas, carry out active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to dangerous areas, and increase the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group on the Bakhmut directions, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled Russia's attacks in the area north-east of Hryhorivka, Donetsk region. The Russian troops tried to regain lost ground in the area of Andriivka, Donetsk region, but had no success. Defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group in the Marinka directions, the Russian forces launched unsuccessful offensives in the area of Marinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. Here, over the past day, the invaders made 12 unsuccessful attempts to force Ukraine's units out of their positions. In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled a Russian attack near Mykilske, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russia attacks in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region resulted in significant losses in both manpower and equipment for the invaders. At the same time, in the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, the Defense Forces continue to hold the line at the occupied borders, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces.

In the Melitopol direction, the Defense Forces continue their offensive, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian troops, exhausting and forcing them to withdraw from their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue counter-battery operations, destroy supply depots and successfully strike at Russia's rear.

Russians promise prisoners early release in exchange for a contract with the Russian Armed Forces

"In connection with the catastrophic losses of the occupiers and in order to recruit units of the airborne troops in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, campaign activities are being held in places of detention," the statement reads.

It is noted that the prisoners are promised early release from prison in exchange for a contract with the Russian Armed Forces, which is valid until the war ends.

Russian army launched 59 missile and 62 air strikes on the Ukrainian territory

Over the past day, there were 26 combat clashes.

The Russian troops launched 59 missile and 62 air strikes, fired 55 times from multiple launch rocket systems at both Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian objects.

Air strikes affected 1 locality in Chernihiv region; 1 in Sumy region; 4 in Kharkiv region; 1 in Luhansk region; 11 in Donetsk region; 3 in Zaporizhzhia region; and 3 settlements in Kherson region.

Over 120 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 9 artillery units and 2 electronic warfare stations

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck a control center, an anti-aircraft missile system, 12 times at areas of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration and 2 times at electronic warfare stations. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed one enemy attack UAV of the "Shahed-136/131" type.

  • In the south, the Offensive Guard units have advanced deep into the Russian defense and are now consolidating and repelling enemy attacks.

  • Russian elite troops currently operating in the western part of Zaporizhzhia have been unable to stop the gradual but steady advance of Ukrainian troops since mid-August.

  • The Institute for the Study of War reported that Ukrainian armored vehicles are operating beyond the final line of the Russian defensive layer that Ukrainian forces in western Zaporizhia Oblast are currently penetrating.
