Russia is trying to bite off any part of Ukraine's land: military expert on Zaporizhzhia front
Serhiy Zgurets, military expert and CEO of the media and consulting company Defense Express, noted that Russian forces have intensified their actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Since March, we've seen increased activity in the Zaporizhzhia direction. This surge is largely tied to political realities, as the enemy tries to bite off any part of our territory ahead of a possible ceasefire, though, in my opinion, that won’t happen.
Right now, the enemy has indeed escalated its actions in the direction of Pyatykhatky, Mali Shcherbaky, and Shcherbaky. The distance between these settlements is 11 kilometers," Zgurets explained.
According to him, Russian airborne units have launched attacks on several settlements in the Zaporizhzhia direction, particularly Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky. Reports indicate that in one area, Russian forces advanced by one kilometer.
"At this moment, actions are underway on our side to prevent further enemy advances. I don’t think this is a full-scale offensive but rather an attempt by Russian forces to create the illusion of another threatening front and possibly force Ukraine to divert reserves to these areas.
However, I believe it's too early to conclude that this is preparation for an offensive on Zaporizhzhia. What we’re seeing is the activation of Russia’s 'Dnepr' group of forces, which hasn’t engaged in serious combat for a long time," Zgurets added.
- Since early March, Russian troops have continuously attempted to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian forces in the Pyatykhatky-Mali Shcherbaky sector of the Zaporizhzhia region.
