Russia intensifies ‘filtration’ measures in occupied Kherson region – General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces informed on it in its daily update.

Thus, intensified searches and phone checks are taking place in 4 settlements of the region. Particular attention is paid to residents who own phones with Ukrainian SIM cards.

Russian soldiers also continue to loot in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. For example, in the village of Bokovo-Khrustalne in the Luhansk region, Russian troops are robbing the homes of local residents.

Russia launched 23 cruise missiles and carried out 36 air strikes against Ukraine

On April 28, the Russian forces carried out another massive missile attack on Ukraine. Thus, over the past day, they fired 23 cruise missiles of the Kh-101 and Kh-555 types, 21 were shot down. Two operational and tactical drones and two attack UAVs were also destroyed.

Russia also carried out 36 air strikes on the territory of Ukraine, in particular, to attack the territory of Chernihiv region. In addition, 65 attacks were launched from multiple launch rocket systems.

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed four Russian command posts, an ammunition depot and several areas of occupation troops' concentration

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out five strikes on the areas of the Russian manpower concentration. Missile and artillery units struck four control points, an ammunition depot and four areas where the invading troops were concentrated.

The situation in other frontline areas

The Russian army launched 48 attacks in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions over the last day. Bakhmut and Marinka remain the hotspots of the fighting.

The situation in the northern and northwestern Ukrainian border did not change significantly. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.

In the northern and north-eastern part of Ukraine, 5 localities were shelled from the air over the past day. Three settlements in Chernihiv region, 6 in Sumy region, and 6 in Kharkiv region came under mortar and artillery fire.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russians fired artillery and mortars at 9 settlements in the Kharkiv region and 1 in Luhansk region. 

In the Lyman direction, 7 localities were subjected to air strikes. Artillery shelling was carried out in 4 localities of Luhansk region and 3 in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian troops launched air strikes on Bakhmut and Bohdanivka. They attacked 13 localities in the Donetsk region and also had unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Bohdanivka and Chasiv Yar during the day.

In the Avdiivka direction, 6 localities in the Donetsk region came under fire. Also in this area, the invading Russian troops had offensives in the vicinity of 3 localities, but they failed to succeed.

In the Marinka direction, 4 localities in the Donetsk region suffered hostile attacks.

In the Vuhledar direction, the enemy did not have any offensive actions yesterday, but carried out air strikes on 3 localities in Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army did not undertake any offensive actions yesterday, but launched air strikes on 3 localities in Donetsk region.

• On April 28, a Russian missile hit a high-rise building in Uman, Cherkasy region, during a massive attack: 23 people were killed, including 4 children, and 18 were injured. In Dnipro, a 2-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman were killed and four people were injured.

• In the Chernihiv region, on the afternoon of April 28, Russian forces launched three airstrikes on Kostobobriv, damaging eight houses.
