Russia hits Popasna water utility and leaves 1 million people without water
1 million people in the Luhansk region left without water after Russian forces damaged the Popasna water utility.
Luhansk Regional State Administration Head Sergiy Gaidai announced this in his Telegram channel.
"Russians hit at the capacity of Popasna water utility. 1 million people, including ones on the occupied territories, left without water," he wrote.
Russian forces damaged the substation building and an open switchgear with transformers at one of the filter stations.
"The substation equipment is likely to be damaged. Water supply was completely suspended in Popasna, Zolote, Girske, Pervomaisk, Kadievka, Alchevsk, Khrustalne, Antratsyt cities, as well as in Toshkivka, Chekhirove, Loskutivka, Pidlisne, Vovcheyarivka, Madoryazantsev, Lysychanske villages (almost 1 million people)," Gaidai said.
Repairmen can begin their work on restoring water supply only after the cessation of hostilities.
