Russia has recruits 1,200 Crimean convicts to Wagner PMC in February alone - AFU General Staff

Since the beginning of February, Russia has recruited almost 1,200 people to the Wagner Group from Crimean prisons

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Saturday, February 11.

"In order to compensate for large-scale military losses, since the beginning of February this year, Russia has deployed about 1,200 people from the Russian private military company Wagner Group, who were recruited in prisons on the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," the statement said.

In addition, Russian troops in Mariupol organized repair works on their military equipment, which was deliberately damaged by Russian soldiers in order not to participate in hostilities. The main reason for the malfunctioning of military equipment is the deliberate destruction of engines.

Russia is reinforcing its troops in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions

"The enemy launched 7 missile, 23 air strikes and more than 15 MLRS attacks over the last day," the statement said.

The General Staff also reports that the Russian army, despite significant losses, does not abandon its intentions to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"It continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Vuhledar directions. It is reinforcing its grouping of troops in the Lyman and Bakhmut areas. It is actively using aviation to strike at the positions of our units," the report says.

The northern and northeastern border with Belarus and Russia: more than 20 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv region came under Russian fire. Russian army also launched air strikes near Vovchansk, Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk and Lyman directions: Russian troops launched mortar and artillery attacks at more than 15 settlements in Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

Bakhmut direction: in total, more than 20 settlements in the Donetsk region suffered tank, mortar and artillery shelling.

Avdiivka and Vuhledar directions: 17 settlements came under Russian tank, mortar and artillery fire. Russian air strikes were registered near Vesele, Nevelske and Mariinka.

Zaporizhzhia direction: 2 settlements in the Donetsk region and 8 in the Zaporizhzhia region were shelled by Russian forces. They also launched air strikes near Mala Tokmachka.

Kherson direction: the suburbs and the city of Kherson, as well as more than 20 other settlements were hit by Russian artillery fire.

Over the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ aviation launches 16 strikes on Russian personnel concentrations and shoots down a Su-25 aircraft and an Orlan UAV

The aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched 16 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and military equipment, as well as 2 strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems. Ukrainian defenders also shot down a Su-25 aircraft and an Orlan UAV.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit 4 Russian manpower concentrations over the day
