Russia has long developed scenarios of provocations at the Kursk NPP, and now it can use them for its own interests

This was stated by the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov, on the United News national telethon.

Yusov emphasized that provocations on its territory are a widespread and constant practice in Russia.

"Such scenarios are precisely developed and prepared for implementation in the aggressor state, its terrorist military and political leadership. Moreover, attacks on their own civilian targets and population are not new to Putin and his regime, but a regular practice. Therefore, in order to increase the level of mobilization, improve internal political processes and gain support, the enemy may begin to carry out provocations," the intelligence representative explains.

Yusov noted that the relevant plans have already been developed, and the only question is whether to implement them.

"This scenario and its development are not new. This plan has existed for a long time and the question lies in the final decision and the order - whether it will be issued," he said.

The representative from Defence Intelligence of Ukraine highlighted that the potential magnitude of these provocations, along with the associated radiation risk, is frequently underestimated by those orchestrating them.

"Just as, I am sure, the Russians could not fully calculate the consequences of the explosion and destruction of the Kakhovka dam. Just like every time they play nuclear terrorism at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, of course, the occupiers simply cannot fully calculate the consequences. But the consequences of any such actions can be significant. When it comes to Kursk, we are talking primarily about the consequences for Russia and its civilian population," Yusov explained.

In his opinion, the question now is what measures the Russian population is ready to take to counteract such intentions of the authorities.

"Or will they continue to endure and just watch the events unfold and say that everything is going according to plan?" Yusov added.

  • Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces StratCom said that the reports of a provocation at the Kursk NPP were Russian psyops aimed at spreading panic among Ukrainians.
