Russia forced to deploy old armored vehicles of 1950s and 1960s in Ukraine - British Intelligence

The British Ministry of Defense reported the information on Twitter. 

British intelligence notes that the Russian military continues to respond to heavy losses of armored vehicles and deploy 60-year-old T-62 battle tanks. There is a real possibility that even units of the 1st Guards Tank Army, Russia's premier tank force, will be rearmed with T-62s to compensate for previous losses. Earlier, the 1st Guards Tank Army was supposed to receive the next generation T-14 Armata tanks produced in 2021.

British analysts also note that in recent days, Russian BTR-50 armored personnel carriers, put into service in 1954, have also been identified in Ukraine for the first time.

"Since summer 2022, approximately 800 T-62s have been taken from storage and some have received upgraded sighting systems which will highly likely improve their effectiveness at night. However, both these vintage vehicle types will present many vulnerabilities on the modern battlefield, including the absence of modern explosive reactive armour," the British intelligence concluded. 

• According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost 3,423 tanks and 6,703 armored vehicles in Ukraine.
