Russia finally banned from transporting container cargo through Europe's largest port
The Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands has completely stopped container transportation to and from Russia
This was reported on the official website of the Port of Rotterdam.
Europe's largest port in Rotterdam, as part of sanctions against Russia, imposed a final embargo on container transportation to and from this country. This significantly affected the total volumes of this type of cargo in the first half of the year.
The number of container shipments in the Port of Rotterdam has decreased by almost 9% since the beginning of the year. After all, before the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Russian trade accounted for about 13% of the traffic of the Dutch port.
At the same time, over the last six months, the volumes of coal and liquefied natural gas transportation increased significantly, as the import of Russian gas through pipelines decreased significantly. And in general, there is a tendency to increase the import of energy carriers not from Russia, but from other European countries.
