"U.S. fights against Russia, Americans responsible for Russian deaths" - media disinfo

According to the Centre for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, disinformation and manipulation were spread around the world on August 2. 

Manipulation: The American Conservative wrote: "The U.S. is engaged in hostilities against the Russian Federation. The combat is indirect, but real, with Americans responsible for thousands of Russian deaths and mass destruction of materiel. The slope toward full-scale war grows ever more slippery. It is imperative to end the Ukraine imbroglio before it spreads." 

Rebuttal: This is yet another statement aimed at discrediting U.S. support for Ukraine and portraying an important Ukrainian ally as an aggressor. In fact, Russia remains the only aggressor in the war against Ukraine, and the United States and other Western partners are helping Ukraine to resist this invasion.

Disinformation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes on his X page compared footage of the Mariupol railway station destroyed by Russia and its rebuilding by the occupation Russian forces, writing: "Mariupols main train station was built by the Soviets Like much of Ukrianies post independence infrastructure, it was allowed decay, finally being destroyed during the current conflict. Here it is today under Russian control."

Rebuttal: In fact, the destruction of the Mariupol railway station shown in the footage is the result of a brutal Russian shelling of the city in 2022, which left the building 80% destroyed
