Maidan sparks civil war in Ukraine: foreign fakes and manipulations for May 10
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations that appeared in the world on May 10
This is reported by Espreso.TV.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, on May 10, one fake and one manipulation were spread.
Manipulation: In his podcast, American journalist Danny Haifon said: "What Ukraine was doing with NATO weapons, what NATO was doing to bring its troops to the border, what NATO was planning for Ukraine - all of this was a precondition that could well be seen as a plan to invade Russia."
Rebuttal: The journalist disseminates Kremlin narratives, in particular about “NATO enlargement,” to support false arguments that the Alliance provoked Russia and therefore it had no choice but to invade Ukraine. Such theses are promoted to justify the illegal actions of the aggressor country.
Disinformation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on his X page: ''Before the illegal, US backed Maidan Coup in 2014, which tipped Ukraine into Civil War, the Ukrainian, British, American, and French armies marched alongside their Russian Comrades on Red Square to thank them for the destruction of Fascism.''
Refutation: This is another attempt to distort the reality of events in Ukraine in 2014. In fact, after the Revolution of Dignity, Ukraine did not start a civil war, but a war with the Russian occupiers, who, after the annexation of Crimea, invaded the eastern regions of Ukraine and, with the support of local separatists, began to seize Ukrainian territories.
- Earlier, the Russians launched a fake that the "Kyiv regime" was taking out its anger on civilians in Donbas and Belgorod.
