Russia deployed missile launchers in nonspecific manner ahead of night attack – Humeniuk
Natalia Humeniuk, head of the joint coordination center of Ukraine’s South Defense Forces, notes that Russia used the waters of the Azov Sea on the night of May 16, apparently trying to confuse Ukrainian air defense system
She shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The day before, the enemy deployed missile carriers in an uncharacteristic manner, including using the waters of the Sea of Azov, apparently trying to confuse our air defense system. The enemy deployed one of the missile carriers to the northern part of the Kerch Strait, but during the night they added more missile carriers to the Black Sea, so 24 Kalibr missiles were ready at the time of the attack. The occupiers fired 9 missiles from the Black and Azov Seas, 4 of which were headed for our area of responsibility and were all destroyed by air defense. Another 5 missiles were heading to other regions of Ukraine and were also eliminated," said the head of the joint coordination center of Ukraine’s South Defense Forces.
Natalia Humeniuk added that Russia’s naval grouping of 9 vessels is currently in the Black and Azov Seas, one missile carrier remains in the Azov Sea and two in the Black Sea. The total volley of Kalibr missiles that the enemy has not yet launched is 15 missiles.
