Russia cyberattacks on energy facilities in Ukraine: assessment of threat

Russian hackers constantly attack energy facilities, trying to blackout the whole Ukraine.

Ilya Vityuk, head of cyber security department of Ukrainian Security Service, reports in the interview with LIGA.net.

According to him, society does not know about most cyberattacks, but there are 10 of them per day.

"Energy, infrastructure and logistics are priority targets for Russian special services. The latest shelling of the TPP was also accompanied by cyberattacks. We expected such scenario, so none of them were effective. Sometimes we have information about where Russian forces will strike in the coming days or weeks, and our task is to prevent this from happening. Or we let Russian troops go on a false trail, realizing there will be no negative consequences. Society does not know about most cyberattacks, and today Russia carries out more than 10 cyberattacks per day", Vytyuk said.

According to him, cyberattacks are more effective than missile attacks, because missiles most often Ukrainian air defense systems shoot it down.
