Russia 'congratulates' Ukraine on Kyiv Day with record number of Shaheds - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explains the massive air attack on Kyiv by the largest number of Iranian attack drones since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the fact that May 28, the last Sunday of May, is traditionally Kyiv Day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening video address.

“Today, our country has gone through one of the largest Russian attacks with Shahed drones - 54 drones at once. Almost all of them were shot down. Unfortunately, there are hits in the Zhytomyr region. But still, most of the destruction was averted, most of the lives that could have been taken by these Shaheds were saved,” the head of state noted.

According to him, during this attack, “quantitatively, the most powerful blow was directed against the Kyiv region.”

“This is how Russia celebrates the Day of our ancient Kyiv... Kyiv has seen various meannesses from invaders in its history. It survived them all - it will survive the Russian occupiers. None of them will be here!” Zelenskyy emphasized.
