Russia causes damage by stealing grain from Ukraine at estimation of $2 billion at minimum
Olga Trofimtseva, ambassador on special assignments of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that losses are calculated not only from losses of traders, but also of companies with large production and small farmers
She told it live on air of Espreso TV channel.
Ambassador commented on Bloomberg's report on Russia's theft of $1 billion worth of Ukrainian grain.
"Our Ukrainian experts consider this figure from Bloomberg to be underestimate. However, we could only be talking about stolen wheat from the occupied territories. And if we talk about stolen grain in general and about territories that have already been de-occupied, then I think that we can safely estimate these losses at least $2 billion. In my opinion, damage estimate of $1 billion is underestimate," ambassador noted.
Olga Trofimtseva emphasized that losses are calculated not only from losses of traders, but also of companies with large production and small farmers.
"There are producers of various sizes in temporarily occupied territories who are still unable to restore these losses. If we talk about theft of grain by the occupiers, then we say that it is necessary to record everything in order to document information about what happened during occupation in the economic activities of producers. Third major international investigation is currently underway, which shows not only the amount of stolen grain, but thanks to modern technologies, we know by which ships and routes Russia tried to export Ukrainian grain. Therefore, I believe that we have more than enough evidence. I am absolutely sure that not only Russia will be responsible, but also companies participating in this," Trofimtseva concluded.
