The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this on the evening of December 18.

In the Avdiivka sector, the Defense Forces repelled 29 enemy attacks

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: more than 20 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

  • In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all the Russian attacks near Synkivka in Kharkiv region, where Russian enemy, supported by aviation, tried in vain to break through the defences of our troops. About 10 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled four enemy attacks near Serebryanske forestry in the Luhansk region and east of Terny in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements in both regions suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 10 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region. Russia shelled about 10 localities with artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Avdiivka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 22 Russian attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove and Avdiivka, and 7 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. The enemy shelled about 10 localities in the Donetsk region with artillery and mortars.
  • In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders are holding back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the Russian forces launched 11 futile attacks on the positions of the Defence Forces. Six settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations; shelled about 10 localities in Donetsk region with artillery and mortars.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled nine attacks west of Novopokrovka and Robotyne, where Russia, with the support of aviation, tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions. About 20 localities in Zaporizhzhia region came under artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Kherson direction, Kherson, Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Tokarivka in the Kherson region and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region came under Russian artillery fire.

Russia has not abandoned its intention to drive Ukrainian units from the left bank of the Dnipro River. Russian troops made eight attempts to assault but were adequately repulsed and retreated with losses. Ukrainian units are holding the line, holding their positions and inflicting fire on the enemy. They continue to expand the bridgehead.

Ukrainian missile forces hit 2 areas where Russian personnel, their weapons and equipment were accumulated

During the day, the Defence Forces aviation struck 6 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment of the Rashists.

Missile troops hit 2 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment. Ukrainian defenders also struck a command post, three artillery pieces, and 4 ammunition depots of the enemy.
