Russia attacks Ukraine with drones, fragments hit high-rise building in Kyiv

In the evening and on the night of December 22, Russia launched a Shahed attack: air defense operated in Sumy and Kyiv regions, debris hit a high-rise building in the capital, and a fire broke out

Consequences of the attack in Kyiv

Mykhailo Shamanov, a spokesman for the Kyiv City Military Administration, told Espreso that this is the fifth time Russia has attacked the capital in December.

"Once again, the terrorist country used Shahed barrage munitions, they entered the capital from different directions, there was an attempt to hit infrastructure and residential buildings. One of the Russian drones caused a disaster in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, where a fire broke out on the upper floors of a multi-storey residential building, three apartments have partially destroyed walls and three more have shattered windows," the speaker explained.

According to preliminary data, there are two victims with cut wounds and bruises of soft tissues, one of them was hospitalized.

A drone fragment was also recorded falling in Darnytsia district, where a fire broke out in a two-story private house as a result of the drone fragments falling. A fall was also recorded in the Holosiivskyi district, but without damage or injuries.


Kyiv region 

According to Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Regional Military Administration, there have been no hits to critical infrastructure.

"At the same time, in one of the districts of the region, 3 private houses were damaged as a result of falling debris. A fire broke out in one of the unfinished buildings, which was promptly extinguished," the statement said.

No people were injured.

Odesa region

According to Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, the wreckage of a downed drone damaged a grain storage facility, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished by employees of the enterprise. 

No one was injured.

Mykolaiv region 

In the Mykolaiv region, a Russian UAV hit an infrastructure facility, causing a fire.

No people were injured.
