On the night of August 14, Russian terrorists attacked Odesa with missiles and drones: three people were injured, several fires broke out, and debris damaged a dormitory and a supermarket
This is reported by the local authorities.
According to Ukraine's Air Force, on the night of August 14, Russia launched several waves of strikes on the territory of Ukraine, using 15 attack drones and 8 Kalibr cruise missiles. Defense forces destroyed all of them and eliminated another Russian helicopter.
As the commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, later reported, the helicopter destroyed by Ukrainian forces was an enemy Ka-52 attack helicopter. It is also known as an Alligator.
Russia fired missiles into Odesa's downtown. As a result of their downing, fragments damaged a dormitory and a supermarket. Local authorities report that as of 08:19, according to updated information, besides the dormitory and supermarket, a residential building was also damaged.
“The blast wave smashed windows in several buildings and damaged cars parked nearby. All relevant services are on-site,” states Oleh Kiper, who leads the Odesa regional military administration.
Two people are in the hospital.
Earlier, Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army's South and member of Odesa administration, shared that the enemy striked Odesa thrice overnight. They employed two rounds of attack drones, totaling 15 drones, along with 8 sea-based Kalibr missiles.
Our air defense effectively repelled all these attacks. However, rockets downed by the air defense and targeted by the enemy at Odesa's center resulted in debris damaging an educational institution's dormitory and a supermarket.
"The explosion damaged windows and balconies across various buildings, and cars parked nearby were also damaged. Fires broke out at two facilities, and firefighting teams are actively working," stresses Bratchuk.
Additionally, he clarified that the three individuals harmed are employees of the supermarket.
By 03:02, Kiper reported injuries. He emphasized that three people fell victim to the attack by Russian terrorists in Odesa.
"We are providing all necessary medical care for the injured," emphasized Kiper.
During this time, Russian attacks persisted in the Odesa region, prompting a call to seek shelter and not disrupt the air defense operations. Before this, he had mentioned that falling rocket fragments caused multiple fires in the city and the shockwave blew out windows in buildings.
