Ukraine restores last of three bridges destroyed by Russia over Desna River
Ukraine has completed the reconstruction of the last of three bridges over the Desna River that were destroyed at the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. The restored bridge is 300 meters long
The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development reported that over 25 bridges were damaged in the Chernihiv region at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
After the area was liberated, transportation was severely impacted, making many settlements accessible only by detour. At times, food had to be delivered using a winch when there was no bridge access. While there was a pontoon crossing available, it was halted during the winter ice flow.
