Poland aims to profit from Ukraine reconstruction with major logistics hub — PM Tusk
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that the country plans to modernize the infrastructure of the Slavkov logistics hub. According to him, this will increase transshipment capacity for servicing cargo flows in the Ukrainian direction and will become a "golden deal" for Warsaw
Polskie Radio reported the information.
"I will say without exaggeration that here, in Slavkov in Silesia, we will have the largest logistics center of this type in Europe. It's not just about breaking records (...) it will also be a 'golden deal' for Poland," Tusk said.
The Prime Minister added that Poland wants to help Ukraine in its recovery and also profit from it.
"There is nothing wrong with saying it this way: we want to make big money for Poland on the reconstruction of Ukraine. We want to help, but we also want to profit from it, and this special hub is needed for this. (...) It shouldn't be like it was before, when everyone was involved, including Poland - I'm talking about the war in Iraq - and then the biggest ones made money on the reconstruction, and Poland was left with nothing," he explained.
Tusk noted that the Slavkov Euroterminal, located in southwestern Poland, will become a transshipment center for goods from Asia and China after the end of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.
"This is a large logistics project, the largest dry port... We are entering the second stage of investments in the expansion of this Euroterminal. We have several more such stages - the third, fourth, and fifth. The entire project is estimated at over one billion euros," added the President of the Industrial Development Agency, Wojciech Balczun.
- On April 17, Poland announced that after the opening of the airspace over Ukraine, they want to be the first to restore air connections with Ukrainian cities.
