Putin tries to expand support among Russian radicals - ISW
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has approved the military correspondents' proposal to create a working group under the presidential administration to integrate them into the pro-Kremlin information space and strengthen support among ultranationalists
The Institute for the Study of War reported this.
According to analysts, the working group will include members of the Russian presidential administration, whose task will be to coordinate ideas for a war against Ukraine.
ISW experts reported that it is still unclear whether and how pro-war bloggers will be involved in this group.
“Putin’s support of a working group to focus on war reporting suggests that Putin intends to continue to publicly engage with pro-Kremlin mobloggers in an attempt to expand his support in the ultranationalist community,” the report says.
The Kremlin has previously engaged its military correspondents by offering them official positions in the Human Rights Council and in the mobilization working group, presumably in exchange for increased pro-Kremlin rhetoric.
