Putin plans to unite Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories into one federal district - Meduza

The Kremlin plans to merge occupied Kherson and Zaporizhia territories with the Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories and announce the "creation of a new federal district within Russia."

Russian non-state news outlet Meduza declared by Russia to be a 'foreign agent' in 2021, reports this story citing three sources close to Russia’s Presidential administration.

Creation of the federal district is planned to be announced after the "referendums" on joining Russia. According to Medusa, Boris Rapoport is in charge of the project - he has been one of the Donetsk and Luhansk Republic groups curators since 2014, as well as being involved in the Novorossiya project. Rapoport is now allegedly recruiting staff for the occupation administrations in the occupied territories.

These people must prepare to commit pseudo-referendums. So far, two dates are being discussed. The first - "in mid-July, if the situation at the front allows it". And the second, which is considered to be more realistic - September 11, the only day of voting in Russia. It is planned to recruit officials brought from Russia instead of local collaborators.
