Prospect of blowing up Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is rising - military expert Kyrychevskyi
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that the Russian forces may blow up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant (HPP) to delay the advance of Ukrainian troops and create a natural barrier
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“Before the war, water flowed through the irrigation canals of the Kherson region. Now these canals are dry, and the Russians use them as trenches. And this is very important. Because these irrigation canals were connected to the North Crimean canal, which theoretically should have supplied water to occupied Crimea. At the beginning of the invasion, the Russian forces blew up the dam, but apparently, this hydraulic structure is not functioning now,” Kyrychevskyi noted.
According to him, it is important to model when the Russian forces might try to blow up the Kakhovka HPP.
“Until now there were strategic level arguments. For example, the Russian forces will dare such a terrorist attack when they understand that they will not hold Crimea. But they can blow up the Kakhovka HPP to delay the advance of our troops and create a natural barrier. The prospect of blowing up the Kakhovka HPP is greater than it could have appeared yesterday,” Kyrychevskyi emphasized.
