“President of Brazil scolded Putin”: Ukrainian MP explains Kremlin’s refusal to meet da Silva
Ukrainian MP Valentyn Nalyvaichenko believes that Russian leader Putin refused to meet with Brazilian President Lula da Silva because he feared pressure over the ceasefire issue
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“Brazilian President Lula da Silva did the most important thing. Even before his plane landed in Moscow, he clearly told comrade Putin to stop the fire. He even scolded Putin. I think this was the right thing to do. That’s why, when the Brazilian president’s plane was refueling in Moscow on its way from Beijing, Putin got scared and avoided meeting him,” Nalyvaichenko said.
The MP noted that relations with Brazil are very important for Russia, yet despite this, Putin refused and neglected the opportunity to meet with President Lula da Silva.
"Actually, Brazil and China are the true founders of BRICS. In this organization, Russia pretends to have some international and economic subjectivity. Moreover, Brazil is today a huge industrial and economic power in the world. For Russia, relations with Brazil are very important, and they cannot simply disregard this. However, even despite this, there was nothing Putin could say to the Brazilian president," he added.
