Power engineers connect Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukrainian power grid
Ukrenergo specialists restored power supply to the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, interrupted by enemy missile strikes on the night of March 9
This was reported by the press service of Ukrainian grid operator Ukrenergo.
"Ukrenergo specialists have restored the power supply to Zaporizhzhia NPP, interrupted by today's missile strikes. ZNPP is switching from diesel generators to receiving electricity for its own needs from the United Energy System of Ukraine," the statement said.
Earlier, Energoatom reported that on the night of March 9, the last line of communication between the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP and the Ukrainian power system was disconnected after Russian missile attacks.
"For the sixth time during the occupation, the 5th and 6th power units are being put into cold shutdown, 18 diesel generators have been switched on to supply ZNPP's own needs. The fuel for their operation will last for 10 days. The countdown has begun," Energoatom said.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko noted that Russia is once again bringing the world to the brink of a nuclear disaster.
- IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concern about another blackout at ZNPP, which occurred as a result of a massive missile attack on Ukraine on March 9.
