Pope Francis called for an end to hostilities in Ukraine and guaranteeing humanitarian corridors
The Holy See sends two of its cardinals to Ukraine
During a Sunday meeting with pilgrims on March 6, 2022, Pope Francis called for an end to the armed offensive in Ukraine and for common sense to prevail so that humanitarian corridors can be guaranteed. It is reported by Espresso.TV.
"First of all, I urge that the armed offensive be stopped and negotiations prevail, that common sense prevail. And that international law be respected again! I would also like to thank journalists who risk their own lives to secure information: thank you, brothers and sisters. This is your ministry! A ministry that enables us to approach the tragedy of these people and enables us to appreciate the brutality of the war. Thank you, brothers and sisters! Let us pray together for Ukraine: we have its flags before our eyes", Pope Francis said.
"These days, two cardinals went to Ukraine to serve the people and help. Cardinal Krajewski, the Eliminarium to help the needy, and Cardinal Czerny, Acting Prefect of the Dicastery of Service to Integral Human Development. The presence of two cardinals there is the presence not only of the Pope but also of all Christian people who want to be close and say: "War is madness! Stop, please! Look at this cruelty!", the head of the RCC said.
