Polish embassy clarifies Ambassador Rościszewski’s statement that Poland will be forced to enter the war if Ukraine loses
Polish Ambassador to France Jan Emeryk Rościszewski said that if Ukraine loses the war with Russia, Poland will be forced to enter the conflict
This is reported by WP.
Rościszewski commented on the decision of the Polish authorities to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 fighters. He stated that it is not NATO, Poland, France, and Slovakia that is increasing the tension, but it is Russia that is attacking Ukraine, killing people and kidnapping Ukrainian children.
"So either Ukraine defends its independence today or we are forced to enter this conflict — our fundamental values, the basis of our civilization, are under threat, so we have no other choice," he stressed.
Later, the Polish embassy in France clarified his words.
They emphasized that during the conversation with the publication’s editor, the ambassador asserted the need for allies to support Ukraine.
He also spoke about the threat Russia poses to Europe and European values.
"Listening to the entire conversation, one can understand that there was no announcement about Poland's direct participation in the conflict, but only a warning about the consequences of Ukraine's failure - the possibility of an attack or involvement of Central European countries - the Baltic states and Poland - in the war by Russia," the message reads.
The embassy emphasized that Rościszewski’s statement fully corresponds to this and should be understood in this way.
