Polish ambassador tells how Przewodów accident affects relations between Warsaw and Kyiv

The Polish ambassador to Ukraine, Bartosz Cichocki, said that the tragedy with the missile crash in Przewodów did not affect Ukrainian-Polish relations, and that the blame for it lies entirely with Russia.

Cichocki said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine

"I don't understand why this tragedy should have affected Polish-Ukrainian relations. Immediately, the president and the prime minister of Poland said that the murder of two Polish citizens resulted from Russian aggression, namely, a massive missile attack by Russia on Ukraine. Russia is responsible for these murders. No one asks questions or even any warnings to Ukraine," Cichocki said.

He considers the calls for applying the fifth article of NATO, which appeared immediately after the missile crash, unprofessional.

"I have seen comments from individual experts and publicists on social networks regarding their expectations of NATO's response to this tragedy. It seems to me that these are not precisely professional comments. I am sure that NATO's response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine is unprecedented. On a vast scale, assistance is provided to Ukraine, which is not a member of the Alliance. Not all people are professionally familiar with the structure, legal grounds or political conditions in NATO," Cichocki claimed.

He expressed confidence that the correct conclusions were drawn from the tragedy of the missile crash on the territory of Poland.

"Our allies reacted quickly and declared solidarity. There is also a proposal that Germany is discussing regarding the deployment of air defense systems. It seems to me that this tragedy has made us realize even more that we are not talking about any local conflict but that Russia's aggression threatens the whole of Europe," Cichocki suggested.
