This was announced by Poland’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Polish Government Authorised, responsible for Refugees, Paweł Szefernaker, reports Rzeczpospolita.
Szefernaker noted that starting from July 1, the Polish government will stop paying PLN 40 (9,39 USD) per day for food and accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.
"We are convinced that many people in Poland are able to be independent and adapt," Szefernaker said.
However, he added that there will be exceptions - for some refugees benefits will be expanded, namely - for the disabled, pregnant women or families with many children.
In a special act on assistance to refugees from Ukraine, the Polish government initially guaranteed the benefit for the first 60 days, and a month ago extended it for another 60 days, but will cease it in the future.
"We pay huge social funds - from 300 to 500 PLN for each child, and other amounts arising from social assistance," - said the Minister’s Deputy.
