Poland declares readiness to increase gas production in Ukraine’s western regions

Poland is ready to develop energy cooperation with Ukraine through gas production in the western regions and the creation of an energy bridge Rzeszow - Khmelnytskyi NPP

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Ukrinform reports.

According to the head of government, Poland seeks to make Ukraine energy independent from Russia. He also stressed that the implementation of certain energy projects is possible after Ukraine's victory in the war.

"We are already being invited to joint exploration and production projects in Ukraine. Of course, peace must come there, but such projects are possible. The talks cover various areas, including gas exploration in western Ukraine," Morawiecki said.

He noted that the Ukrainian side also invites cooperation on the modernization of the Rzeszów-Khmelnytskyi NPP energy connection.

"This connection, this combination can help strengthen the energy security of both Poland and Ukraine in a universal way," the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.

He added that Poland is negotiating with Ukraine on the connection between the Rivne NPP and the city of Chełm.

Morawiecki noted that Poland wants to become an energy and, above all, gas hub in Central Europe.
