Pentagon determines what modification of M2 Bradley Ukraine will receive
Ukraine will receive American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles in the M2A2 ODS version as part of a new US military assistance package
The WarZone, citing the chief Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder, reported the information.
Ukraine is to receive M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles in the M2A2 ODS version. The corresponding modification of the M2A2 ODS (Operation Desert Storm) was developed based on the experience gained by the US during the 1991 Iraq war (Operation Desert Storm).
The M2A2 ODS version is equipped with the FBCB2 (Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below), a combat information and control system that allows the exchange of information with reconnaissance satellites and all units that have similar devices.
At the same time, the vehicle is protected by an infrared system of passive protection against ATGMs. Inside the machine, two benches for 3 seats were installed instead of individual seats. This allows the troops to leave it faster. A thermal imager was installed at the driver's seat.
The vehicle also has a laser rangefinder ELRF (Eye-safe Laser Rangefinder) from Fire Control Systems with a range of up to 10 km, and a tactical navigation system TACNAV (Tactical Navigation System) with a GPS receiver. The M2A2 ODS has a DCS (Digital Compass Systems) digital orientation system installed.
- On January 4, Ukraine's Chief of Defence Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov said that the arrival of American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine is expected in the near future.
- The day before, on January 5, US officials on condition of anonymity told the Associated Press that the new package of assistance to Ukraine will include several dozen Bradley fighting vehicles.
