Our power engineers saved Europe: Chernobyl power supply resumed

Today, March 13, power supply was restored at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which will allow the cooling systems for spent nuclear assemblies to operate normally

Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko wrote about this, Espresso.West reports.

"Today, thanks to the incredible efforts of NPC Ukrenergo specialists, our nuclear scientists and electricians, we managed to return the power supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which was seized by Russian invaders. Our Ukrainian power engineers, risking their own health and lives, were able to prevent the risk of a possible nuclear catastrophe that threatened all of Europe," German Galushchenko noted.

He explained that now the cooling systems for spent nuclear assemblies will work again in normal mode, not from backup power.

At the same time, Ukraine does not need help from anyone to ensure or restore power supply at Ukrainian energy facilities, one of which is the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

“Yes, our power engineers are indeed heroes, but it is impossible to ensure nuclear security in the face of military aggression by exploits alone. Therefore, I once again appeal to our international partners, the European Commission, the IAEA, the UN, the OSCE: help us protect nuclear facilities! Now it is extremely necessary to force the aggressor to leave the NPP and establish a 30-kilometer demilitarized zone around Ukraine's nuclear power facilities", German Galushchenko emphasized.
