One power unit at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant shuts down as Russia shells nearby industrial site

Invading Russian forces have fired near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Energodar

This was announced by the mayor of Enerhodar, Dmytro Orlov.

He wrote about the provocations of the Russian occupying forces, who fired from the direction of the Zaporizhzhia NPP in the direction of residential quarters of Energodar.

"Explosions can be heard. The difference between the launch and the impact is only about 3 seconds. In most neighborhoods of the city, the light has gone out. There is also no water supply, and the Internet has stopped working for the most part", Dmytro Orlov wrote.

Later, Energoatom revealed that invading Russian forces staged another provocation in Energodar and shot in the direction of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

"The Russian military again resorted to provocations. As a result of their shelling at 2:30 p.m., three hits were recorded near the industrial site of the ZNPP. The enemy hit the high-voltage communication line of the 330 kV VRP of the autotransformer of the ZNPP - Zaporizhzhia TPP", Energoatom reported.

It is added that despite the provocations, the ZNPP continues to work and deliver power to Ukraine's power system through lines that are in operation.

"According to their capacity, a decision was made to unload and disconnect one of the operating power units of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant from the network. No releases or discharges of radioactive substances were detected. The Russian invaders continue to terrorize and endanger the entire civilized world. It is necessary to take all measures as soon as possible in order to return control over the nuclear facility to Ukraine!" - Energoatom wrote.
