One of Germany's leading parties calls for Nord Stream 2 to be dismantled
The Free Democrats parliamentary party, one of the three members of the leading "traffic light coalition", has called the still un-launched Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2 to be dismantled
This is reported by Spiegel.
"We demand the dismantling of Nord Stream 2 and the development of a concept of legal, technical and legal protection as soon as possible," the position document approved at the meeting in Bremen states.
"Free Democrats" emphasize that "Nord Stream" was from the beginning a geopolitical project aimed at isolating Ukraine, and ultimately harmed Germany as well.
The party calls for the expansion of sanctions against the leadership of the Russian Federation and the deportation from the country of relatives of Russians subject to sanctions who have visas and the right to reside in Germany.
They also note that if individual countries, including candidates for EU membership, do not rush to join the sanctions, help the Russian Federation to circumvent them, or even supply Russia with weapons, there should be consequences for this.
