October 13 to be Ukrainian Day at PACE session in Strasbourg - Espreso correspondent
Tetiana Vysotska, an Espreso correspondent from Strasbourg, says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to speak at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Thursday morning
She said this on Espreso TV.
"Yesterday, October 10, the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) began in Strasbourg, which will last the whole week and will end on Friday, October 14. The session began with a mention of Ukraine. The leaders of the Council of Europe condemned the massive bombing of Ukrainian cities by the Russian forces and observed a moment of silence for all the dead Ukrainians from Putin's weapons. Also yesterday, under the urgent procedure of the PACE agenda, a question about the political consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine was introduced. And this issue will be considered on Thursday, October 13. The report is being prepared by a friend of Ukraine, Lithuanian MP Emanuelis Zingeris, and then the corresponding resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly will be voted on," the Espreso correspondent said.
Tetiana Vysotska noted that October 13 will be Ukrainian Day, because the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to speak at PACE on Thursday morning. This speech will be held via conference call, after which the president will answer questions.
"The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has unanimous support for Ukraine and recognition of Russia as an aggressor. Let me remind you that PACE is the only major international organization that excluded Russia from its membership after the massive Russian attack on Ukraine in February. All delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly are determined to support and help Ukraine," Vysotska added.
