NYT journalists unveil number of Russian and Ukrainian military losses
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the total number of killed or wounded Ukrainian and Russian soldiers is approaching 500,000
The New York Times writes about this with reference to United States officials.
According to them, it is difficult to estimate the exact number of casualties because Russia underreports them and Ukraine does not disclose them.
Russian military losses, according to officials, are approaching 300,000 (about 120,000 killed and 170-180,000 wounded). Ukraine lost about 70,000 killed and 100,000-120,000 wounded.
The newspaper notes that the occupying Russian forces outnumber the Ukrainian troops almost three to one, and Russia has a larger population to recruit from.
Analysts estimate that Ukraine has about 500,000 military personnel, including active service, reserve, and paramilitary troops. At the same time, Russia has almost tripled this number, with 1,330,000 active service, reserve, and paramilitary troops, most of them from the Wagner PMC.
