Now we expect US recognise Russia as sponsor of terrorism - Ruslan Stefanchuk

This was stated by Ruslan Stefanchuk on the air of the telethon United news.

"I think that the decision of the European Parliament (to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism – ed.) will be a great catalyst for many countries in the world. Of course, we expect such a decision primarily from the US. We know that this is a long discussion. And we very much hope that such a status, or perhaps another special status, will be granted to Russia," Stefanchuk said.

The chairman of Verkhovna Rada noted the status of a sponsor of terrorism will entail legal consequences "A state that carries this status is considered a "rogue state" around the world, and anyone who works with it will be subject to the most severe sanctions from the international community," he explained. 

Stefanchuk also stressed the importance of the simultaneous adoption of a similar decision at the level of world parliaments.

At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the recognition by the European Parliament of Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism will be decisive in forming the list of the ninth package of anti-Russian sanctions.
