Norwegian parliamentarian nominates Jens Stoltenberg for Nobel Peace Prize
Norwegian Member of Parliament from the conservative Progress Party Christian Tybring-Gjedde nominated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for the Nobel Peace Prize
This is reported by Abcnyheter with reference to the politician press service.
"Stoltenberg deserves the prize for his outstanding work as Secretary General of NATO in a difficult time for the Alliance," Tybring-Gjedde said explaining his nomination.
In particular, the politician noted that Russia's brutal and unprovoked attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022 was a clear signal that Russia still has ambitions to rebuild its empire. At the same time, Stoltenberg managed to preserve transatlantic unity, which was an important signal to the Kremlin.
According to the criteria of the Nobel Committee, Tybring-Gjedde, as a member of the national parliament, has the right to nominate a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. Earlier he nominated Donald Trump for it.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize is January 31.
