Norway joins 7th EU sanctions package on Russia
On August 26, a package of sanctions against Russia, approved by the EU on July 21, entered into force in Norway.
This was reported on the website of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We support the EU regarding sanctions against Russia in order to maintain pressure on the Russian authorities and the listed elite. Sanctions are a necessary reaction to Russia's brutal and unprovoked attack on Ukraine", Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said.
The package of sanctions adopted by the EU on July 21 includes restrictions on 54 individuals and 10 organizations, including Sberbank. Their lists have already been introduced into Norwegian legislation. In total, more than 1,200 individuals and more than 100 legal entities are currently on the sanctioned list. It also contains bans on the purchase, import and shipment of gold of Russian origin, on the opening of deposits for citizens or companies of the Russian Federation, and also provides for strengthened export controls on dual-purpose goods and advanced technologies that can be used in oil refining, etc.
