Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy 750 Russian soldiers, 26 artillery systems and 10 UAVs per day

At least 70 clashes took place between the two armies over the past day. Ukrainian soldiers destroyed at least 750 Russian soldiers and 16 armored vehicles

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 22 to March 21, 24 were approximately:

  • personnel - about 433,840 (+750) people,
  • tanks - 6,832 (+4)
  • armored combat vehicles - 13,074 (+16) 
  • artillery systems - 10,740 (+26) 
  • MLRS - 1,018 (+1) 
  • air defense systems - 721 (+0) 
  • aircraft - 347 (+0) 
  • helicopters - 325 (+0) 
  • UAVs of operational and tactical level - 8,365 (+10) 
  • cruise missiles - 1,922 (+0) 
  • ships/boats - 26 (+0) 
  • submarines - 1 (+0) 
  • motor vehicles and fuel tankers - 14,242 (+44) special equipment - 1,741 (+3).
 

General Staff report: Russians tried to break through Ukrainian defense in 7 directions, 70 clashes took place at the front

The operational situation has not changed in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, the invading Russian army did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 17 Russian attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Zolotarivka in the Luhansk region and Yampolivka, Terny, Rozdolivka, Vesele in the Donetsk region. The Russian troops, supported by air power, tried to break through the Ukrainian troops' defense.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repulsed five Russian attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fought off 14 Russian troops' attacks near Berdychi, Semenivka, Tonenke, Pervomayske, Netailove and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian forces in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhayne. The Russian military, supported by air power, tried to break through the Ukrainian troops' defenses 24 times.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions 7 times with the support of aviation near Staromayorske, Donetsk region, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Russian forces keep trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro river. Over the past day, three attacks were made on Ukrainian troops' positions on the left bank of the Dnipro.

The Russian army conducted 4 missile strikes and 69 air strikes on the territory of Ukraine

Over the past day, 70 clashes took place. In total, the Russian troops launched 4 missile strikes, 69 air strikes, fired 123 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

At night, the Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. According to preliminary data, they used 8 cruise missiles and 3 ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed all the missiles.

3 settlements in Sumy region; 3 settlements in Kharkiv region; 1 settlement in Luhansk region; 15 settlements in Donetsk region; 1 settlement in Zaporizhzhia region; and 1 settlement  in Kherson region were hit by air strikes.

About 150 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.

Ukrainian defense forces destroyed a Russian ammunition depot overnight

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 10 areas where Russian troops, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

Missile troops struck a Russian ammunition depot.

  • On the night of March 21, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukraine. The missiles were fired in the direction of the western regions, and most of them turned toward Kyiv. Air defense was operating in the capital and the region.
